Would You Like A Coffee Or A Cup of Enlightenment?

Coffee or a cup of enlightenment?

By Ian Fox

It’s sad that on the BBC news this morning it said more people are consuming more caffeine than ever before. They reported that a leading coffee shop chain in the UK is adding an extra shot of espresso to many of its drinks, because customers are demanding a stronger cup. According to research one in 10 visits a coffee shop every day for a caffeine hit!

No wonder people are looking for higher “stimulation!” Most people are running around trying to make sense of their lives, paying their ever increasing bills and to a higher or lesser degree stuck on a treadmill. The faster they go, the more they stand still. They bounce around from one drama to another, on a stimulus/response scenario rollercoaster. Our society is on one giant collision course into financial oblivion if things don’t change. How high can prices go before it’s too much? SNAP!! The masses are victims of the institutions, advertisers and the Banks. The greedy, power hungry elite who want to trap and control us all. They want us “out of control,” dependant, and addicted. We’re easier to manipulate that way. If we become more spiritual, aware and mindful, we become a national threat.

The great weakness of mankind is the ego and social conformity. If you want to brainwash the many, just indoctrinate the few and the many will follow like a herd of sheep. If you want to understand more about social influence look at cases like Jim Jones, the “Peoples Temple” leader, infamously known for the 1978 mass suicide of 909 Temple members in Jonestown, Guyana. Over 200 children were murdered; most were forcibly made to ingest cyanide in lemonade by the select Temple members. Once a few took the lethal drink, others soon followed en masse! The enormous power of social-proof took hold.

It’s easy to brainwash the masses. All you need to do is manipulate their egos, make them want to prove themselves to others and get them locked into your way of thinking. Why do so many people take drugs? Is it because they love being addicted and want to ruin their lives? No! Most of the time they fall under the spell of social pressure or another ego related reason? Although the stigma is very different smoking and drinking is a drug and so is caffeine. A perfect example of how something can be culturally circulated without too much resistance. Both my father and mother smoked when I was a child, I used think this was the thing to do, but thankfully only tried it for 15 minutes!

If you want to be in control of your life, you have to take control over your ego, your thoughts, your judgments and opinions. You have to be aware of who and what is influencing you, and why? Don’t just conform like the masses do. Stand guard at the door of your mind. Don’t waste your life looking for acceptance or trying to fit into a broken mould. Realise there is more infinite spiritual power around you than what you see and what others want you to see. Awaken from the illusion you need a load of money and fame to be “special.” Having more things, stuff and crap is just another shackle around your leg.

When you break away from the nipple of humanity, and grow your spiritual awareness over time, you discover your true purpose in this life beyond consuming and resisting. You begin to walk in the power and light of God. You recognise the abundance and beauty in things that cost no money and have no emotional weight attached to them. You’re not into decorating your life with empty-vessel status symbols. Your intuition increases and your psychic sense rises. You just begin to trust and ‘know’. Things are allowed to take their course not forced.

The alternative to not being on a spiritual quest is you continue being perpetually pulled along with the herd, influenced by social proof and the manipulations of the ego by the greedy shepherd.  You can stay where you are of course, comfortable with the way things are?  Ordering another cup of coffee and going with the flow of the masses or you can forget the drink and communicate with your higher-self directly, attuning to your true path and spiritual awakening.

Namaste, Ian Fox
